Weekly review template
A three-part weekly review you can finish in ten minutes: what got done, what carried over, and what you'll focus on next week. Copy it for free, or use it inside Loveley Desk's journal.
The template
WEEKLY REVIEW Week of: WHAT GOT DONE - - CARRIED OVER - [Item] — why it slipped: FOCUS FOR NEXT WEEK 1. 2. 3.
How to fill it in
What got done
List finished work, not effort. Seeing it written down makes it easier to tell clients and teammates what moved.
Carried over
Note why each item slipped. The same reason showing up two weeks running is the thing to fix.
Focus for next week
Pick three priorities at most. Anything beyond that is a list, not a focus.
When to do it
Friday afternoon or Monday morning, the same time each week, so it becomes a habit rather than a chore.
Questions
What is a weekly review?
A short, regular look back at the week: what was finished, what was not and why, and the few priorities for the coming week.
How long should a weekly review take?
Ten to fifteen minutes is enough for most people. If it takes longer, the template is collecting too much detail.
Is this template free?
Yes. Copy it and use it anywhere. In Loveley Desk it is built into the journal, and items you tag with # become tasks.
Keep your notes and tasks together
In Loveley Desk, the weekly review sits in your journal next to your tasks. Type # beside a carried-over item to turn it into a task for next week.
